Thompson family receipts, 1761-1770.

Four receipts to members of the Thompson family of Boston, including William and Ruth Thompson. Includes two receipts for payments for medical care, one from Dr. Simon Tufts of Medford and the other from Dr. Joseph Gardner of Boston; one receipt from Dr. John Calef of Boston to Peter Boyer and William Thompson for goods shipped on the brig Dolly; and one from Nathan Tufts to Mrs. Ruth Thompson for milk.

John Calef was a doctor and British loyalist who served on the side of the crown during the Revolutionary War. Calef was born in Ipswich, Massachusetts, on August 30, 1725, to Robert Calef and Margaret Staniford. Calef first married Margaret Rogers of Ipswich, who died in 1751; they had two children.
